Fire chief to Congress

The youngest of nine in a blue-collar family in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, Curt Weldon was the first in his family to graduate from college. He taught school, served as a volunteer firefighter and fire chief, and became mayor of his hometown.

From 1987 to 2007 he represented Pennsylvania's 7th District, serving as Vice Chairman of the Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees. He founded the Congressional Fire Services Caucus and wrote the bill that grew into the federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.

Today he leads One World For Life, uniting firefighters and first responders worldwide. He lives in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Mary.
